So, I'm wearing the Truffaux Montecristi Fino for over a week now - every day - and I must admit, I love it.
The hat itself: It's amazing. The quality is superb, and you can really sense the heritage and craftsmanship that goes into the Montecristi. The straw/ weave is as fine as you would expect, the hat has a great stiffness, but you can easily reshape the brim using some steam to keep it nice and crisp.
The support: Oska is a Master of his art. He gave me great advice regarding the right size and shape of my hat and replied quickly despite time difference. This is just one detail, which is important to me, and you can't get that at the online stores of the big brands.
The shipping: Actually this was the first little adventure my new hat encountered - it made its journey half around the world in about a week, but the handling in the German customs offices is really slow, so it took an additional month until I finally got it. But it was worth every minute of waiting and you can trust the process and that everything comes to an happy end. The hat was packed nicely and securely and survived its odyssey in perfect condition and shape.
Conclusion: I can highly recommend the Montecristi Fino by Truffaux. This is the real deal. Before my decision to buy this hat I did several months of research, even looked at several even higher priced hats, some of the big brands like Borsalino, Mayser and Stetson - it is, after all, a small investment in your wardrobe and you want to be sure no to waste a couple of hundreds of bucks of your hard earned money - but then I decided to have a little adventure and buy this hat from a smaller shop on the other half of the globe - for me it was the right decision, I'm really happy with it and hope that this hat will last me forever.
