Do Panama hats do good in dryer climates? I live in western part of Texas called the High Plains. The winters are cold and the summers very hot. Very low humidity, with average rainfall under 20 inches per year.

They don’t mind at all – they will dry out when you are not wearing them, and moisten up when they are worn. If you aren’t wearing them over winter, put them away, it will help preserve them. When they are dry, they are brittle so just treat them with care until they moisten up again and become supple. Put them a steamy bathroom, or just wear them around.
